We are delighted to announce the appointment of asset management and private markets specialist, Shailen Patel, to our investment team.Shailen joins as our Head of Strategy and Product having spent his career advising the buyside and their investors on structuring, new product viability, transactions, technical accounting, ESG and regulatory capital.
His focus will be to work with private markets on adapting our product range to further enhance value for general partners and their investors, developing new product lines and origination. Shailen’s previous experience as the Head of Corporate Advisory at Macfarlanes, as well as his time in asset management advisory as an engagement partner at EY and group leader at PwC gives him the perfect platform to further our ever growing offering to the private capital market.

About Shailen Patel
Shailen has over 20 years experience in asset management and private markets audit and advisory, with his experience spanning all major asset classes, as well as some more esoteric ones. Having graduated in Economics from UCL, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and rose up the ranks at PwC in their audit and advisory group. He subsequently moved to EY to start and build an Wealth and Asset Management advisory group, which became his basis for developing the advisory offering at Macfarlanes. He has significant experience of corporate and fund structuring, GP stake sales, ESG and private markets governance, particularly in relation to valuation and investment.
Outside of his role at NLC, Shailen acts as an advisor to a Wealth Management FinTech and an Accounting technology business, and has some interesting hobbies that lead him in to the world of the arts and sport.
